At Maker Hardware, we design electronics meant to last a lifetime. To enable a lifetime of ownership, we intentionally designed the batteries to be replaced, used screws instead of glue to allow for repairs, and guaranteed each piece with the backing of a repair program.
Anti Planned Obsolescence
You know how frustrating it is to throw out your iPhone when the battery dies? We made replacing batteries as easy as changing over a tv remote.
Most consumer electronics reach the end of their life when the batteries start to fade. We designed the Boombox with a panel on the underside of the speaker that easily removes to access and replace the Li-Ion batteries.
Our batteries are sourced from a reliable wholesale distributor, a company called LiIon Wholesale out of Pennsylvania

Our speakers are built to last a lifetime. To support this mission we offer a lifetime repair program. Send us the speaker and we will happily replace any parts under warranty for free, or for unwarranted parts we can provide a quote

Open Hardware
Most consumer electronics are irreversibly sealed, preventing disassembly, repair, and ownership.
Consider classic car culture. Because owners have access to their vehicle and repair manuals, they take pride in the care of their car. Now open the hood of any modern car to find the engine fenced off by a layer of plastic.
We accompany the device with accessible documentation, found on our technicals page. to allow for ample understanding of the internal systems. Open hardware accompanied by documentation enables the industrious owner to repair, customize, or modify their speaker.
